I am a PhD candidate and graduate in International Relations with over a decade of experience working within the sectors of international development and relief aid in Europe, South Asia, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. After working on the acquisition and management of technical assistance projects with consultancy firms in Brussels and on development programmes with non-profits in Madagascar and Afghanistan, I have joined international organisations in the response to refugee/IDP-related emergencies, mainly in West and Central Africa.
I am currently a PhD candidate at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal) and research fellow at the Portuguese Institute of International Relations, studying and researching on peace and security in Sub-Saharan Africa focusing on EU's external action in Somalia and Mali. Furthermore, I have been working as an independent consultant, mainly of evaluations commissioned by the European Commission of instruments for financing EU external actions in peace and crisis management. Most recent experiences include my work as an evaluation expert conducting reviews of EU’s Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace. In 2018-2019, I was also based in Mogadishu as a reporting officer for a civilian mission within EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (EUCAP Somalia).
