Genuinely interested in how (new) technologies affect the way we see the world and ourselves in the world, I headed for over two years the Research and Analysis (R&A) programme of the European Strategic Communications Network (ESCN). The ESCN's mission was to support governments in developing a strategic communications approach to prevent violent extremism. In my role, I edited several publications (only available to members), including many reports on current and future challenges of (violent) extremism and recommendations to governments. I also set up and facilitated working groups and expert meetings aimed at collecting government and/or expert insights and building experts' collective wisdom.
Currently I am still engaged in providing strategic communications support to EU Member States in the context of the Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) Policy Support. In addition, I am a consultant for the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) developing a study assessing the potential interplay between regular and irregular movements of people and the evolution of the threat stemming from ISIL and AQ-inspired terrorism in Europe.
Moderated and facilitated several invitation-only expert/working groups meetings and events attended by government representatives, EU Institutions and international organisations, academia, private sector and civil society.
Presented at the Conference on Preventing Violent Radicalisation, organised by the Finnish EU Presidency in September 2019, on future challenges in the prevention of violent extremism.
Confident in public speaking.
Original and engaging presentation skills.
