Prof. Dr. Gloria González Fuster is a Research Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB)’s Faculty of Law and Criminology. Member of the Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) Research Group and of the Brussels Privacy Hub (BPH), she investigates legal issues related to privacy, personal data protection and security, and teaches International and European Protection of Human Rights for the Master of Laws in International and European Law (PILC) of VUB’s Institute for European Studies (IES). She is also faculty member of the Máster Universitario en Protección de Datos of the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja, and Programme Coordinator of VUB’s Data Protection Law Summer School.
She is a member of the European Commission’s Multistakeholder Expert Group to support the application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
She is currently contributing to the research projects Promoting Integrity as an Integral Dimension of Excellence in Research (PRINTEGER) and Constructing an Alliance for Value-Driven Cybersecurity (CANVAS), both co-funded by the EU, and to a project on the impact of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) co-funded by the Spanish government (DER2015-63635-R). She is also the promotor of VUB’s contribution to the action grant ‘Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters and Electronic IT Data in the EU: Ensuring Efficient Cross-Border Cooperation and Mutual Trust’ (JUD-IT), co-funded by the European Commission.
