Dr Alessia Vacca is a Lecturer in the School of Law at the University of Sassari, Italy, and she is also a lawyer. She is currently working on a research project regarding Transparency in the Energy Law sector and lecturing on Public Law (Energy Law and Local Government Law).

Alessia holds a PhD in Law from the University of Aberdeen, UK, where she also worked tutoring EU Law and Foundations of Private Law at the School of Law. She graduated in Law (Laurea in Giurisprudenza Vecchio Ordinamento, which corresponds to a five-year degree) at the University of Cagliari, Italy, with 110/110 cum laude, presenting a thesis on Administrative Law. She has been a trainee lawyer in London for 6 months (as a winner of the Leonardo da Vinci award) and in Barcelona (Spain). She has also been contract researcher at the University of Cagliari.

In 2009 she was awarded with the CB Davidson Bequest from the University of Aberdeen. She attended several post-graduate courses in EU Law, International Law, Human Rights Law, Energy Law and Administrative Law in Italy (e.g. Cagliari, Milan) and abroad (e.g. International Public Law at the Hague Academy, the Netherlands, Human Rights in the EU at the University Carlos III Madrid, Spain, Cooperation among Mediterranean Sea Countries, University of Marseille, France).

Alessia has been visiting researcher at the University of Sydney, Australia, and in the US. She has delivered presentations all over the world: at the University of Aberdeen, at the Emory Institute for Human Rights, USA, University Paris Nanterre X, France, the University of London, the University of Tartu, Estonia, the University of Dundee, UK, Direito GV San Paolo, Brazil, and in Nicosia (Cyprus), Athens (Greece), Bangkok (Thailand) and Lisbon (Portugal) during the IAITL Conference series 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Other conference presentations include at LEARNMe (2015), the BILETA Conference (2015), the 2015 and 2016 SIBR Conferences in Japan and Malaysia, SEES Conference at the University of Cambridge and the 2016 WCTR Conference in Shanghai.

She was a member of the Bar Commission, Court of Appeal of Cagliari, for the Bar examination (year 2014). She has written a book and various articles dealing with the issues of transparency, transparency in public administration, transparency in the energy sector and energy efficiency, transparency in environmental matters, climate change, sustainable development, energy law, minority rights, rights of minority languages, rights to use and have minority languages used in public administration and public institutions, EU Law, Public Comparative Law, and UAV.
