Sarah Bressan is a research associate at the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin, where she contributes to the institute’s work on peace and security. She focuses on strategic foresight and quantitative forecasting for policy planning in relation to Europe’s external action.

Prior to joining GPPi, Sarah analyzed state capacity and subnational violence as a research assistant at Freie Universität Berlin’s Collaborative Research Center on Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood (SFB700) and at Mannheim University. She also supported the SFB700’s cooperation with the German Federal Foreign Office. Other professional experiences include a traineeship at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and consultancies for the European Investment Bank, the Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement in Beirut, and the German Council on Foreign Relations, including work on conflict sensitivity in development projects.
