Organized in partnership with The Dutch Permanent Representation to the EU, The Netherlands Embassy in Brussels and The Netherlands Joint Permanent Representation to NATO. An inspiring networking event dedicated to empowering and connecting professionals in celebration of International Women’s Day - complete with great food, cold drinks, and live tunes from jazz ensemble ‘Something Else’.
The Brussels Binder 2024 elections Manifesto launch

Organised in partnership with The Nine. We launched a Manifesto calling on the EU’s political parties and candidates, institutions, think-tanks, the private sector, event management organisations, civil society organisations, the media and other EU stakeholders to pledge that events taking place ahead of and after the EU elections have a diverse speaker line-up. Then a debate on tackling the lack of diversity in EU policy debates moderated by Sarah Wheaton, POLITICO Europe with the following panelists: Kelsey Beltz, The Good Lobby; Georgia Brooks, The Nine; Eva Gerhards, European Commissioner; and Dharmendra Kanani, Friends of Europe
Engaging Men as Allies in Gender Equality

Organised in partnership with Robert Baker and Google. Engaging more men in gender equality is undeniably a win-win, and it holds a prominent position in The Brussels Binder's strategic priorities. We partnered with Robert Baker, Vice Chair at 'European Women on Boards' and CEO of Potentia Talent Consulting Limited. Together, we initiated a survey designed to assess how engaged are the men in our network as allies for women. During this event, we presented the results of the survey then a panel discussion with Marc Angel, European Parliament; Gail Rego, Social justice activist; Aurélie Mulowa, Belgian Entreprenoires; and Thierry Geerts, Google.
Intersectionality in Europe’s Transition to Net Zero

Organised in partnership with The UK Mission to the EU and DIAGEO. Gendered differences exist in climate change exposure, ability to adapt, attitudes, production, leadership, participation and activism. A panel discussion was moderated by inclusion specialist Tamara Makoni with the following speakers: Helen Higgs, EDF; Sarah Nelen, European Commission; Marcia Banasko, Plan International; and Katharina Wiese, The European Environmental Bureau.
End of Year celebration

In partnership with The Nine and the WICT Network Europe. We were delighted to welcome Isabelle Durant, (then) outgoing Deputy Secretary General of (UNCTAD) and former Vice-President of the European Parliament and Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium – and Elsa Zekeng, Founder SökerData Ltd., Co-Founder Northwest Biotech Initiative, and Forbes ‘Sciencepreneuse’ for a conversation on whether the increased conversation on diversity and inclusion in the workplace is translating in practice across the public policy sector.
Fifth Year Anniversary

in partnership with The Dutch Permanent Representation to the EU and DIAGEO. Women are increasingly taking up leadership positions, both globally – Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the World Trade Organization and Kristalina Georgieva at the International Monetary Fund – and in Europe, where Ursula von der Leyen heads the European Commission, Roberta Metsola the European Parliament and Christine Lagarde the European Central Bank. Yet much remains to be achieved. Moving forward, The Brussels Binder will be expanding its focus from a single facet of diversity to a more holistic view that goes beyond gender, and also looks at other factors, such as sexual orientation, ethnicity, age, gender identity, disability and socio-economic background. To honour our progress and to continue raising awareness of the Brussels Binder, we celebrated with our community our 5 year anniversary. We had a drag show, a DJ set and a panel discussion with Helena Dalli, European Commissioner for Equality; Petra de Sutter, Deputy Prime Minister, Belgium; Geert Maesmans, CEO of Research and Development, Cargill; and Evelyn Regner, Vice-President, European Parliament.
